January 2024 The Nature Conservancy has signed a grant agreement with Trust for Public Land, by which the Conservancy will provide the remaining gap funds needed for TPL to acquire land for Arizona State Parks and also to make some investments in the property. In addition to the grant, the Conservancy has been an important partner with TPL from the beginning of this project. "The protection of this land provides an opportunity for local families to learn more about the Verde River and our state's unique heritage," said Kim Schonek, a resident of Chino Valley and TNC Arizona's Water Program director.
